Thinkware announced the ARC 800 on August 18, 2026, as the newest model in its ARC series, available in the U.S. through thinkwarestore.com and authorized retailers at a $329.99 list price. It is a two-channel system: 4K front, 1080p rear, with a 2.3-inch touchscreen and the option to add Thinkware's LTE module later. The Amazon listing is live under ASIN B0H5PX6S9J.

The headline feature is what Thinkware calls AI Night Vision, which it describes as AI-powered low-light processing that stays active in parking mode. The company also lists Dual HDR on both channels, built-in GPS with safety-camera alerts, ADAS warnings and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Thinkware CONNECTED remote features (live view, impact alerts, location) require the separate $149.99 LTE module and a service plan.

The hardwiring cable and a 32 GB microSD are in the box; the VIOFO A229 Pro sells its hardwire kit separately.

Who should care

  • Thinkware fans priced out of the U3000. The ARC 800 keeps the 4K STARVIS 2 front camera and the LTE upgrade path at $220 less than the U3000 Front & Rear. You give up the radar parking module and the 2K rear.
  • Street parkers who want parking mode on day one. The cable is in the box, and the three parking modes cover the usual cases: impact-only, 2 fps time-lapse and motion-triggered 20-second clips.
  • Drivers who want speed-camera alerts. Thinkware's safety-camera database is built in, which VIOFO does not offer.

Who should look elsewhere: anyone who wants a 2K rear camera. The VIOFO A229 Pro 2CH gives you that for $20 more, along with a longer warranty and a 149°F (65°C) heat rating versus 140°F (60°C) here.

What we can't tell you yet

  • Whether AI Night Vision is more than a name. Thinkware has published no sample footage specs or comparison numbers, only the feature description.
  • Power source. The store page does not say whether the ARC 800 uses a supercapacitor or a lithium battery. The 140°F ceiling suggests a more conservative design than supercapacitor rivals, but that is inference, not a published fact.
  • Heat and firmware stability. Nobody has run one through a summer yet. We do not handle units, so BaniCar's score comes from the spec sheet only.
  • The Amazon warranty term. Thinkware's store lists 1 year; check the listing for the Amazon-sold version.
